In this activity, students view the interactive timeline on the 9-11 Memorial and Museum website. The website contains audio and artifacts pertaining to the World Trade Center attacks and aftermath. It is highly engaging, but also emotionally difficult content. The found poem helps students reflect and create unique writing, without having to search themselves for the right words. Found poems are not a grammatical summary of text, they are more of a summary of tone. In the end, students have a finished poem that can be proudly displayed in the classroom.
