I do this activity with my students every year as part of a September 11 unit. I send it home for homework that week. Students interview two (or more, if you wish) people who were old enough to remember the details of that awful day in our nations history. I find that it really gives my kids insight into something that is otherwise just "history" to them. Parents often tell me how glad they were for the assignment, because it is important to them to make sure their children knew why the day was so important.
