Product Description
This is a lesson to be used specifically with September 11. You can use it on the actual day, or a previous/later day if the actual day falls on a weekend. In this lesson, students will work together to think about "What is a Hero?" They will talk about local heroes such as police officers and firefighters. After the "hook" of the lesson, they will then learn about what September 11 is and what happened on that long ago day. You will be able to discuss it as a class as well as they will be able to watch a short video that will show them parts of that day. Once they have learned about what happened on September 11, they will then get to write a thank you letter to their local heroes thanking them for their service! As the years pass by the up coming generations don't know about September 11, so this is a great way for them to learn about the day, as well as relate some of what happened by thanking their local heroes and the sacrifice and service they give daily.
