September 11 - Photo Essay
This 4 page September 11 resource involves students creating a photo essay based on the events of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The resource includes a student handout that details the expectations of the photo essay and the process by which students should create their photo essay. It involves students first identifying major themes related to the terrorist attacks of September 11 through a collaborative place-mat activity. Once students have identified the themes related to September 11, they then create their photo essays using a series of images and captions to convey their interpretations.

September 11 Impacts - Gallery Walk
This 19 page September 11 resource focuses on the the major impacts on the world resulting from the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The resource will help your students understand 7 different impacts from the September 11 attacks, including: the economy, the war in Afghanistan, the War on Terror, the loss of life, and more! The resource includes a detailed teachers guide for ease of use!

The resource centers on teaching students about the different impacts of the September 11 attacks through a Gallery Walk Activity. In this activity there are several stations (displays) scattered throughout the classroom and students must visit all of the stations to gather information related to the impacts of the September 11 attacks.

Death of Osama bin Laden - Reading and Activities
This 11 page resource deals with the death of Osama bin Laden by US forces after the ramifications of September 11th (9/11). This resource includes a 2 page reading on the events, importance and outcomes of the death of Osama bin Laden in 2011. Based on the reading your students will then be tasked with completing a set of 15 comprehension and analysis questions.

September 11 - Reading and Questions
This 6 page September 11 (9/11) package includes a two page engaging and informative reading (visual and text) related to the September 11 (9/11) Attacks. This is a great activity for having students analyzing a reading and for analyzing the September 11 (9/11) Attacks and the aftermath.

The reading and questions cover the major events of the September 11 (9/11) attacks including the events of the four hijacked, planes, the collapse of the World Trade Center towers and the outcomes of the attacks. (Death of Osama Bin Laden and the War in Afghanistan).

September 11 - Speech Analysis
This 6 page September 11th document contains the speech made by President George W. Bush on the evening of September 11, 2001. The resource include a set of 5 questions wherein students are required to analyze the speech and its significance given the events of September 11. Patriot Act Debate Resource
This 16 page resource centers on the Patriot Act and the controversy surrounding its role in post September 11th (9/11) United States. The resource contains a two page reading on the creation of the Patriot Act following the September 11 terrorist attacks and the differing perspectives that exist in relation to the Patriot Act in modern society. Along with the reading comes a set of 4 analysis questions that requires your students to analyze elements of the reading on the Patriot Act. The final question contains a graphic organizer that requires students to record the positives and negatives of the Patriot Act. The questions include a teachers key for ease of assessment.

Next, the resource contains detailed instructions and prompts for facilitating a four corners debate related to the Patriot Act and the influence it had on society in the years after the terrorist attacks of September 11. As well, the debate activity will provide students with the opportunity to compare and contrast the Patriot Act with the United States Bill of Rights and how each impacts the other.

Patriot Act - Cartoon Analysis
This 7 page resource centers on the USA Patriot Act through the analysis of political cartoons. The resource contains an excellent student handout that explains how to analyze the major characteristics of a political cartoon (Symbolism, Text, Imagery, etc.) As well, the handout contains a web link to an online catalog of political cartoons related to the Patriot Act that students will use in order to find a political cartoon for analysis. The guide also contains examples of cartoons to show students the major characteristics found in political cartoons.

Next, the resource contains a one-page cartoon analysis organizer which students will use to analyze their chosen political cartoon ,related to the Patriot Act, for the major characteristics discussed in the student handout.

Finally, the resource contains a writing assignment in which students will use the information form their organizer to show their understanding of the perspective of their chosen Patriot Act political cartoon and their interpretation of its message. The writing assignment includes a marking rubric for ease of assessment.
