This project combines short, guided research and writing to study/introduce terrorism. After researching, students will brainstorm ideas and use their creativity to come up with solutions in a 2 paragraph written speech. This writing project will teach students how to come up with ideas and how to back them up.
Using the U.S. Department of State's website (link provided), students will access the most current report on terrorism in the world today. Students will choose a region of the world and a specific country in that region to research, and they will list facts about terrorism happening in that specific country on the direction sheet. Complete instructions are provided.
After doing their research, students will imagine that they are the leader of their specific country. They will write a speech to their citizens describing what they will do to combat the terrorist acts. A rubric detailing the requirements is enclosed.
This handout may be copied and redistributed to students in the buyer's classroom only; it may not be shared without purchase.
