Introduction to Friendly Letter Writing
Are we losing the art of communicating through handwritten letters? There was a time when people could only communicate through face to face conversation or a handwritten, courier delivered letter. It was an art to clearly share emotions, concerns, hopes and dreams in print. The speed and sometimes lack of careful thought of phone text or email don’t necessarily allow for the more personal expressions in the sender’s unique handwriting on specially selected stationery. Such a letter may include a particular scent, colored inks, a doodle, pressed flower or other item to personalize the letter. A letter might become a treasured keepsake. Digital messages are not considered collectible. Eloquent letters from the past provide glimpses into the daily activities, joys, trials and relationships of the authors.
Let’s honor World Letter Writing Day by putting pen to paper, composing an amazing letter, then sending it to someone special!
