Themed Monthly Homework for the month of SEPTEMEBER
This homework is a one stop shop! The Themed Monthly Homework pack has everything you need to assign homework for the month of SEPTEMBER.
Each month has a Monthly Homework Calendar. A Monthly Homework Calendar is a table that has the Month written at the top and a table underneath it explaining each night’s task. Check out the preview to see the Monthly Homework Calendars.
The Activities or Assigned Homework:
The activities or task are aligned to 1st Grade Common Core Standards. However, they can be differentiated to fit the needs of an Above Grade Level Kindergartner or a Below Grade Level Second Grader.
The homework varies from math, language arts, and science. Each week I keep it fresh and change it up. I never want the students doing the same thing each week. Some activities my repeat month to month, but they are amped up a level the next time around. Math activities range from addition, subtraction, shapes, to even writing their own math stories. Language Arts activities vary from phonics, sight words, informational text to even writing their own creative stories. Science activities are in a Language Arts format with informational writing or reading.
Each month is themed to the time of year. August and September are back to school themed. October is Monters. November is turkeys. December is snowflakes. January is Penguins. February is Hearts. March is Shamrocks. April is Rain and Earth. My is Bugs and Frogs.
I have included every week of the month. It is up to you whether you assign all the weeks or not. If you have a week off from school for holidays you can either white out the assignment on the Monthly Calendar or what I like to do is assign it for “optional work”. I write “optional” underneath the week. You can tailor this pack to your needs.
In each box of the Monthly Calendar there is a smiley face. The smiley face can be used by the students at home when they finish an assignment. They can color it or put a sticker on it. The idea is to create some self motivation and responsibility for completing their work each night.
There is a Math Calendar in this pack. The Math Calendar is blank and can be filled in by you. Last year I filled it in by hand and wrote what I wanted the students to each night in their math workbooks. If your school uses math notebooks this would be a great place to assign pages. If not, you can fill it in with verbal activities or include your own math worksheets. Don’t worry though, there are plenty of math activities in each week to make sure students are practicing valuable math skills.
