My morning meeting is an integral part of the day. This is a time to teach routines and embed much of the curriculum. We spend time on ELA and math during this time. The children enjoy the interactive slides and by the second week of school are experts on the smart board.
Each month I add new and varied slides to maintain interest and growth. Please come back as the year progresses to find the monthly meetings.
For September there are 22 slides, which include:
-Class rules that you can adjust and have children review each day
-Lunch chart that you can personalize for your students
-Daily Schedule that you can personalize for your class
-Classroom jobs to personalize
How Many days in Sept- ten frame & tally mark chart to practice these very important math skills each day
-Weather chart that can be customized for your town. Click on the weather people to link to your local accu- weather forecast
-Hundred board counting
-Class bank to introduce money
-Morning Message to write the news of the day.
-Sight words to practice each day- you can have children highlight words to read
-Friend of the day- pick 1 child each day to focus on their names (letter sounds and syllables)
-Math- more & less concepts
-Place value- generate a new number each day and have students show the tens and ones
-Zero the Hero- every 10th day the students can watch this fun video about Zero!
-Birthday graph to chart your student’s birthdays
-Poems for the 3 weeks in September. Children read the poems each day for the week and then on Friday they get a copy to print out and illustrate in their poetry books.
I hope your students enjoy their morning meeting as much as mine do.
