How Many Does Brown Bear See? is a shared reading book with a pocket chart activity and worksheets to accompany it.
Letter, Word or Sentence Sort aligns with Reading Foundational Skills RF1. Students, with adult help, read a card and determine if the cards has a letter, a word or a sentence. Then the students puts it in the correct place on the pocket chart.
Letter and Sound Fluency Practice aligns with Reading Foundational Skills and also is great practice for DIBELS Letter Naming Fluency test. Students place alphabet strips in the pocket chart. They can read the letter name or the letter sound for fluency with a partner helping and checking.
Phoneme Segmentation Fluency Practice aligns with Reading Foundational Skills and is great practice for DIBELS Phoneme Segmentation Fluency test. Students place picture card strips in the pocket chart. They read the picture card and then stretch out the sounds in the word. For example, if the word is "bat", students would say, /b/, /a/, /t/. Partners can help and check.
Positional Word Practice aligns with the L1e standard. Students first match positional word cards with picture cards. Then students use a task card with positional directions to place picture cards in the correct location. A worksheet accompanies this activity.
