Do you teach poetry to your young learners? This poetry resource was created with differentiation in mind, as there are multiple different activities for all 5 poems included. This gives teacher the opportunity to choose their daily activity.
-Highlight the words
-Poem with fill in the blank missing words
-Read and draw
-Cut/paste the poem
How I use it in my classroom:
Monday: Students read the poem and the poem gets read aloud as a whole group.
Tuesday: Students reread the poem and highlight the words from the title throughout the poem.
Wednesday: Students reread the poem and then choose to either cut/paste or fill in missing words.
Thursday: Students reread the poem and draw a picture to correspond with the poem.
Friday: Students cut out the poem line by line and paste it in order. I usually have students practice reading the poem aloud to their peers as a way of building confidence and fluency.
