Does your journal time or writing center need some excitement?
This resource is a GREAT way to get children excited about writing! Project the prompts from PowerPoint or Google Slides for the class as they write in their journals. I’ve also included the INTERACTIVE DIGITAL VERSION FOR YOUR GOOGLE CLASSROOM, GOOGLE SLIDES, OR MICROSOFT ONEDRIVE.
This means that this resource can be PAPERLESS!
I set a timer to keep the kids focused and it really only takes a couple of minutes each day. Have the children share their writings and watch their love for journal time grow!
Although this resource will work in your writing center, I’ve had THE BEST results doing them with whole class.
There are prompts for every school day of the month and optional word banks for younger students or for those who need the extra help.
This resource was created to have the same routine every week so that kids know what to expect:
Day 1 – Finish the sentence (prompt)
Day 2 – Would you rather….?
Day 3 – Make a list (competition)
Day 4 – Quick Write (one word for 2-3 mins)
Day 5 – Would you rather…?
This is the order of the slides, BUT you can use the prompts however you wish in any order.
This resource includes:
*Prompt checklist for those who want to go in a different order
*20 different prompts (5 days a week/ 4 weeks)
* 4 extra prompts with word banks
* An extra “My Weekend Was…” prompt to use anytime (for those Monday mornings when kids want to talk about what they did. This gives them an easy outlet!)
* Directions on how to use the prompts (Make a list competition and Quick Write)
* PowerPoint file
* Google Slides file
* Interactive Digital Resource file (Paperless!)
For a list of all the prompts, please check out the download preview.
I know that this resource will get your students excited about journal time!
Thanks for looking.
