This packet of resources will help your students understand the 'Visual Knowledge' in texts. You can help your students understand how pictures and other visual elements contribute to meaning in text.
This packet includes:
- sequencing posters (4 pictures that can be sorted into a 'story')
- blackline set of sequencing posters
- 2 student writing pages (1 landscape, 1 portrait)
- student picture page (cut and glue the pictures into a story order)
The theme of the pictures in this packet is 'A House for Mouse', and show the story of a mouse that leaves home. She looks for a new home, first visiting a bird's nest, then a bee hive, only to find a very suitable 'mouse house' to be her home at the end.
It is the aim of this packet is to provide you with the resources to have a rich discussion with your students about each picture. Your students will learn the most from the ideas and suggestions of other students as you talk to the class about what is happening in each picture and how the story is unfolded from the images.
