This is a game board that I use for vocabulary development with my beginning French students. Print the game board front to back. Have students work in pairs or small groups (up to 4 people). Begin with the French words facing up. The object of the game is to get 5 words in a row. In order to pace a game piece on a square, the student must correctly translate the word out loud. Players will take turns translating words from the board and placing their pieces. The first player to get 5 in a row wins. Once the students have tried translating French to English, have students flip the game board and play translating from English to French. For game pieces, I simply use different colored construction paper cut/ ripped into confetti style dots. That way the game boards are re-usable.
