Talk about the sequence of events for going to bed. How many actions are there? What do you do first? Next? Last? Dramatize it! Draw the sequence!

Use the colored picture cards to create a sequence of events.

With each sequence of events ask: What do you do first? Next. Last. How do you know? Why do you think that?

Repeat the sequence. Ask, “Is this the sequence you would use? Why? Why not? Talk about how the pictures show the sequence. Ask the child to explain his/her thinking.

Note: Listen to the child’s reasoning.
