A few things about this assignment:
1. This exploration was created to help your students practice and explore sequences of transformations. Ideally, this assignment is used after students have been introduced to the effects of translations, rotations and reflections on a pre-image.
2. Attached you will find two puzzles and sheet of triangles. Each student (or pair) needs one triangle and one or both puzzles. Students will use these manipulatives as the work through the activity. For repeated use in multiple classes, it may be beneficial to laminate the triangles before cutting them out and placing the coordinate planes in sheet protectors. (This also allows for the use of dry erase markers).
3. A sample key is provided, however, answers may vary (which is actually a really cool thing). Increase the level of rigor by having your students come up with two different sequence of transformations that map each pre-image to its image.
