### PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

What could be more motivating when learning about sequences than coloring a design called the Fibonacci Quilt?

In this activity, students will solve 18 problems related to sequences. Sample problems include:
- Find the next number in each sequence. {–4, –1, 2, 5, 8, …}
- Find the common difference {90, 84, 78, 72, …}
- Use the rule to find the specified term: an = 5n – 2, find a11
- Find the first term in the sequence using the specific term and common difference information: Find a1 if a6 = 7 and d = 3

As students solve the problems, they will locate their solution in the design and color the block containing their answer. When finished, they will have completed the Fibonacci Quilt, named after Fibonacci, the author of the problem resulting in the most famous sequence of numbers, the Fibonacci sequence.

From instruction and assessment points of view, students know they are answering the problems correctly if they find their answers on the grid. Half of the blocks are not colored. The numbers in the blocks that are not colored are the results of typical mistakes students might make. The distractors have been included in the answer key, and can be useful for diagnosing and reteaching opportunities.
