Students often mistakenly assume that the patterns they find when examining sequences are the same as the patterns which are expressed as functions. The goal of this activity is to allow students to see these rules side by side and develop the ability to distinguish between the two.
These can be used in whole group, small group, or independent settings.
This collection of activities can be modeled Use blocks, one inch tiles, chips/tokens, pipe cleaners or other materials for tactile learners.
