After reading the book Sequoyah, Father of the Cherokee Alphabet students create an art extension as a follow-up.
Students will learn about this important Native American created a working alphabet which allowed his people to be able to read and write through his "talking leaves."
Art activity geared for K-3, but can be easily adapted for upper elementary.
The activity is a FOLLOW-UP to reading the book "Sequoyah Father of the Cherokee Alphabet" which is NOT included in this activity. You need to purchase the book yourself or borrow from library. The activity DOES include a link to a 5 minute video on Sequoyah.
