This is a full 4-6 week project that is designed to engage students in deep reading of complex texts, analyze evidence, evaluate the types of claims made by either side of the case, study persuasive strategy and the rhetoric of jury members and legal representatives. You have purchased the project documents, guiding PowerPoint, basic rhetoric teaching content, and all documents including the podcast evidence log, podcast texts, differentiated report outlines, and group discussion materials. They are also hyper-linked in this PPT (mustard-yellow links). In order to read the transcripts without destroying hundreds of trees, this project would be best used with 2:1 technology in which students can access Google docs.
Included you will receive a 70 page PPT, ready for display and implementation in your classroom this week! It is full of activities, resources, handouts, documents, rhetorical appeals teaching tools and practice, a study of 12 Angry Men as well as all the podcasts to Serial, differentiated report outlines, writing and communication rubrics, and more.
Enjoy and I hope this curriculum serves to make a more equitable classroom and school, collective social mind, and world. -Ms. Vance
