These colored mini posters can easily be printed and laminated to be posted in your classroom. Each poster includes the definition of the literary term and an example with clip art. This set includes 21 posters with the terms alliteration, antonym, homophone, hyperbole, metaphor, onomatopoeia, personification, simile, synonym, prefix, suffix, fact, opinion, author's purpose, rhyme, analysis, compare, context clues, evaluate, point of view and tone. Posters will print landscape style on regular size printer paper. Pennsylvania Academic Standards are denoted at the bottom of each poster. A set without the PA standards is also available on TPT in case you are outside of Pennsylvania.
Teaching Tip/Idea: To support a vocabulary rich classroom, print these posters and display in the classroom. Post a blank piece of paper or chart paper below each of the posters. As each literary term is encountered in guided reading and literature circles, students can add examples of each literary term to the posters.
*** Also available on TPT is a student version of these posters. In my classroom, I have the mini set posted on my walls. Students then have a notebook (a pocket 3-prong folder or small binder) in which they keep their own record of the various examples of the literary terms that they encounter in their guided reading or independent reading books. This system has worked very well since I accomodate several different grade and reading levels in my guided reading instruction. Please look for the student versions amongs my other TPT listings.
