This set of photography rubrics includes an 11"x17" poster, a letter size handout (good for students, parents and administrators) and a grading sheet that both the student and the teacher complete (photocopy front and back and cut in half).
The rubric has grades at the 100%, 90%, 80%, 70%, 60% levels. Grades 50% and under are noted they will not be graded.
This rubric works with any art assignment and is easy to learn for you (faster grading) and the students (no more arguments).
I personally use this rubric with my high school photography and advanced photography classed with much success.
Example of top grade:
1. Photo(s) clearly & completely depicts the requirements above & beyond an obvious answer.
2. The photo(s) utilized the rule of thirds completely, causes no undue tension, & provides adequate negative space.
3. Made value judgments based on clearly defined criteria to indicate successful use of media, techniques and processes (clearly focused, rule of thirds, strong center of interest, high contrast).
4. Demonstrate an understanding of and ability to incorporate appropriate elements and principles of design, not only in the photograph(s) itself, but in the Photoshop manipulations as well.
