Use these elaboration prompts for Back to School, New Year's resolutions, or any goal-setting activity to teach your students to add a variety of specific details in their writing. This activity is perfect for a center rotation in your writing workshop and can also be used as a whole class lesson.
Each task card provides a topic sentence about possible future goals or the steps to achieve a goal. Students must write three details that could be used in a paragraph with that topic sentence.
Instructions include these types of details:
• Sensory language (imagery)
• Facts & figures
• Figurative language
