Engage your new students with these 9 thoughtful, engaging, & creative activities during the first days and weeks of class! Each activity is designed to fit one or more back-to-school themes: Get to Know You; Goals; Reflections; Policies and Procedures; and Skill Review.

This digital resource created with Google™ Slides and Forms includes the following activities:

Application for an Amazing Year: This twist on the traditional student information form asks students to "apply" for an amazing school year on a 2-page application that combines elements of job and higher education applications. Lined and unlined versions are included.

First Days' Letter to Myself: This template for a friendly letter can be used by students to write to themselves about their first days in 6th grade. It can be revisited at the end of the school year as a reflection activity. Included are a review of the parts of a friendly letter as well as lined and unlined letter templates.

MyPad Activity: Students customize the apps of their own MyPad templates with illustrations or photographs that represent different aspects of their lives. This activity includes 9 different colors of MyPads from which students can choose.

The Mystery and History of the Fortune Cookie & Finding Fortune in Sixth Grade: Students complete a close read of an informational passage about the history of the fortune cookie and then write their own fortunes for the year on fortune cookie templates. A sample bulletin board idea is included!

Getting to Know Our Group Graphing Activity: Students complete a 10-question "Get to Know You" survey. Then, using data results from the entire class, they analyze and graph the responses using bar graphs. This resource includes a digital survey created in Google™ Forms as well as the print version of it. It also includes a review of bar graphs and questions for students to answer before and after graphing the data.

The Life and Times of Me: What in the World Was Going On? Timeline Activity: Students apply timeline and research skills as they create a tier timeline of events in their own lives as well as national and world events that took place at the same time. Included are a review of tier timelines, a graphic organizer for events, and boy and girl digital timeline templates with pre-made text boxes that can be placed along the timeline.

Fact or Fiction Activity: In this fun get-to-know-you activity, students write three facts and one fictional statement about themselves. When they share them, their classmates guess which one is fiction. A template with text boxes is included.

Questions for the Teacher Activity: Create a comfortable and honest classroom environment with these cards that students can use to ask questions about you, your classroom, the class schedule, and what you will be learning about. An illustrated graphic organizer for student questions is included.

Sixth Grade Fast Facts Book: In this quick reference booklet that they can reference throughout the year, students write and store notes about class procedures, schedule, grading scale, and more.
