Seven Circles of Understanding in Climate Science compares the results of major studies to form a single, comprehensive approach to understanding climate change, its causes and solutions. In light of the comparison of essential scientific principles, climate change understandings, and established levels of behavioral change, a model for seven levels of climate change understanding emerges. As a person comes to understand certain essential principles, his willingness to alter behavior with regard to those principles increases. By adopting actions appropriate to his level of understanding, behavior on behalf of a sustainable social, environmental, and economical global climate increases. The model illustrates how people in different stages of understanding can take actions that alter their behavior and help to move them from basic to more advanced levels of engagement in solving the problem of climate change as it is affected by human action.
