Description
Take your students on a virtual field trip to the 7 Natural Wonders of the World! Students will use Google Earth™ and multiple print and digital sources to quickly draw information to answer questions pertaining to the different geographic locations.
Students will complete this activity digitally using Google Slides, but a print version is also included. A link to access the field trip is included in the PDF download. This activity is low prep to save time!
Students will learn about and virtually explore the following:
- Mount Everest
- Great Barrier Reef
- Paricutin
- Rio de Janeiro
- Northern Lights
- Grand Canyon
- Victoria Falls
How it Works:
Students begin by reading a one-page passage about each destination to build background knowledge before using the various features of Google Earth™ and/or watching short video clips to learn more about their location. Google Earth™ offers 360-degree views that are amazing! Students will answer questions pertaining to what they explore and learn.
Versatility:
This lesson can be conducted over the course of a week, with students spending time exploring one natural wonder per day. Or use in small groups or assign as independent work. If time is limited, assign small groups different destinations. Have students then share what they learned with the rest of the class.

Technology:
Please note that students will need to access Google Earth™ to complete this assignment. Google Earth™ can be accessed on a desktop using Chrome as the browser. If using a tablet or smartphone, simply download the Google Earth App before starting the virtual field trip. Your students will also need access to YouTube to view the video clips. Video clips are editable.
