The following eleven-page study guide film packet is used to accompany the Akira Kurosawa-directed 1954 epic drama film Seven Samurai. It can be used in an English or film studies classroom. The first page contains a list of cast and crew and a background and introduction on the film. The second page is a page that allows viewers to jot and take down their own notes. The third page features all of the samurai and asks viewers to write how each character is indirectly characterized. Pages four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, and ten are comprehension questions to guide the viewer on the work's camera movement, cinematography, costume design, editing, figurative language, mise en scene, plot, setting, sound, story, style, subtext, and symbolism. The tenth page contains discussion questions on the work's acting, characterization, implied violence, setting, and themes.
A multiple choice quiz that can be used as a summative assessment that pairs well with this packet, a formative assessment, is available as a separate purchase by clicking here
