PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This was created in a response to a teacher saying, "How do I go about teaching students to analyze a poem?" These daily mini-lessons have been tested in 3rd and 4th grade classrooms with success. It is meant to be a week long lesson using the same poem throughout. Using the poetry question stems, add depth to the conversation, as students are explicitly taught what to look for when analyzing a poem. The turtle will be a reminder and can be used again and again with other poems. Eventually it can be phased out as well as the graphic organizers as the students begin to internalize the elements of poetry.
