This is an Explanatory / Expository Essay Prompt

“Literature Based Writing Prompt – Seventh Grade Prompt 1” - In the short story, “Seventh Grade,” by Gary Soto, Victor, the main character, is beginning his first day of seventh grade. He wants to make a good impression on a girl he likes; he even goes so far as to create a false impression of himself by pretending to know French in his beginning French class. He feels embarrassed because he behaved in a dishonest way in order to impress someone. There are times people may feel the need to create a false impression of themselves. Think about a time you may have been put into the position of pretending to be something you are not. Now write to explain why you behaved as you did, and how it made you feel.
