Severe weather alert! This one-page lesson is a matching activity for fifteen terms relating to severe weather. I facilitate this activity in my middle school earth science course.
The vocabulary terms covered include microburst, tornado, blizzard, straight-line wind, thunder, typhoon, drought, flood, flash flood, hail, lightning, dust devil, dust storm, hurricane, and thunderstorm. Brief definitions are listed in the left-hand column next to numbered blank lines in the right column. I included a word bank at the bottom. I included a one-page key with answers in colored font. This document is editable. Once students complete the matching task, students can use this assignment as a study guide for terms affiliated with severe weather.
