This PowerPoint file is a wonderful presentation about sex-linked genetic inheritance. Since X-linked recessive disorders are more common, that is the focus of this presentation. Students are shown the basic rules of sex-linked (X-linked) inheritance. Students are also asked to complete multiple Punnett Squares and Genetic Pedigrees along the way. This is a very engaging presentation since the students are asked to complete challenges along the way by analyzing various fictional families.
I have also included a “fill-in-the-blank” style worksheet to accompany these notes for you to distribute to your students if you wish. There are 25 slides in this PowerPoint, which contains a very nice collection of images and animations to assist with understanding. All pictures used are in the “public domain” so there is no worry of copyright violation. At the end is a quick practice quiz for your students to try if you wish to check for understanding.
You can view this entire PowerPoint on my YouTube page prior to purchase. This way you can see exactly what is included in the PowerPoint. However, if you purchase this product the PowerPoint is not narrated. You still have to teach yourself (lol). The address to view this presentation is below:
