Product Description
This two-day hands-on activity uses Paper Pets, a popular tool for teaching basic genetics, to model the formation of sex cells and the process of fertilization. In the activity, students cut out paper chromosomes for two Paper Pets, randomly sort the chromosomes from each double pair into paper sex cells, and then combine a sperm and an egg to create offspring. The activity includes teacher directions, a short reading on sexual reproduction, student instructions, paper "chromosomes", paper sperm and eggs, post activity questions, and an answer key.
