Have fun practicing ‘sh’ at word or sentence level with this ‘Parachutes and Planes’ speech game.
Six games in all are included in this package. Word-only and picture-cue versions of the game are provided for practice of the ‘sh’ sound in initial, medial or final positions of words.
Students who are not yet confident readers will enjoy playing the versions incorporating picture cues. A greater selection of stimulus words is included in the word-only versions.
To play ‘Parachutes and Planes’ you will need one dice and a counter for each player.
Each player puts his counter on the ‘start’ cloud.
Take turns to roll the dice; move along the clouds according to the number shown on the dice.
Say the word you land on the same number of times as shown on the dice or, if working at sentence level, put the word in a sentence. Don’t forget to use great ‘sh’ sounds!
If there is a parachute adjoining the cloud you land on, you must go down the parachute to an earlier word.
If there is a plane adjoining the cloud you land on, take the short cut up to a new word.
The winner is the first to reach the finish line.
Parachutes and Planes: fly up with the planes and go down with the parachutes!
