These conflict worksheets (part of my Shades of Gray novel unit
) will help students identify and analyze the many conflicts in Carolyn Reeder's Reconstruction novel Shades of Gray.
The first page contains 12 questions covering different types of conflict in the novel (individual vs. individual, individual vs. nature, etc.). The questions are a mix of multiple-choice test-prep and open-ended, higher-level thinking questions challenging students to think about categorizing information, cause and effect, and the relative significance of plot events. There is an answer key included for this page.
The second page allows students to come up with their own examples of each type of conflict. It can be used as notes, practice, or a graded activity.
