This packet has a variety of items ready to use as you address shades of meaning with your class. There are 40 cards with four words that are arranged in order from weak to strongest. These cards can be used for an introductory lesson. Then add the detective bulletin board pieces to make a cute bulletin board with the cards. There are also 40 color/border coded sets of mini cards with the same sets of words. These cards are to be cut apart and laminated for use with the students in a variety of activities that I explain in the content of the packet. There is a student answer sheet to be used with one of the activities. I have not included any answer keys because sometimes shades of meaning can be perceived differently by different people.
My students have a better understanding of how words that mean the same thing can be considered weak, medium, strong, or strongest. So have fun with these items and get your kids thinking about better ways to express themselves verbally and in writing.
