This packet includes a poster and worksheets that focus on shades of meaning. There are various printables for your students to practice using words with a similar meaning and understand that some words have stronger meaning than others. The goal is for students to distinguish shades of meaning among closely related verbs and closely related adjectives. There are 12 practice sheets and a poster that you can give to your students to consolidate their learning.

You will find practice sheets of different levels to differentiate your students’ learning. Whether you follow Common Core or not, this packet will be beneficial to your students to enhance their grammar and spelling skills. It was made for second grade, but you can even use it for high level first graders and it would be a great review tool for third graders. You may also find it useful to use with ESOL students.
