Product Description
Use this vocabulary center to have students practice finding the nuances or shades of meaning with VERBS, such as run, jog, sprint using color-coded paint strip cards. This activity is designed to have your students practice ordering VERBS.

How it Works
There are ten verbs each having five synonyms. Each verb has been color-coded to match a particular color card that has different shades of the same color (think paint strip). Each verb group also has a color-coded sentence card using each verb in a sentence to provide context.

To set up: Just print, cut apart, store and use it!

What's Included
★ 10-word cards (10 verbs each with five synonyms)
★ Ten color boards
★ answer key
★ student instruction sheet
★ student recording sheets
★ word cards for all 50 words
★ large color board to demonstrate in small or large group
★ reference card for Shades of Meaning
★ UPDATED with new fonts, clip art, borders and added Shades of Meaning Visual Reference Card

The activity can be used in three ways:
Literacy Center:put in a literacy center and students can practice, record their answers and check their answers independently.
Teacher Directed:use in a small group to reinforce or reteach the concept of shades of meaning.
Small Group: have students work in small groups to order the verbs by shade of meaning. Students will have wonderful discussions and maybe even heated arguments of the meanings of the words!
