These pages are meant to help introduce the changing lengths of shadows to children. I have included 2 versions of a Shadow investigation- measuring the length of someone’s shadow several times during the day and over several days to see patterns in the length. One version follows the Scientific Method using the words: Question, Materials, Procedure, Data/Observations, Conclusion and Further Questions. The other is a simple one page investigation with room for observations and questions to answer.
There are 12 pictures with shadows to sort into 2 Headings: Shadows Near Noon and Shadows in the Morning or Afternoon (based on the length of the shadow). There is a student worksheet with pictures to cut out and put in the correct column. These are the same pictures as in the Shadow Sort. There is a Shadow Web in which the children can write what they have learned about shadows.
