Shake It Off Shakespeare is a practical approach to breaking down the barriers and complexities of Shakespeare’s language through engaging exercises that get students up on their feet. In this course students will be asked to think about the relationship between Shakespeare’s written text and its performance onstage.
The original workshop was broken down into six themed sessions that culminated with a school invited performance. These sessions included practical and collaborative exercises; weekly homework assignments used to reinforce lessons; rehearsal time; and a public performance of an edited work. Furthermore, the exercises used aided in the development of collaborative, analytical, and verbal skills.
This packet is broken up into a variety of themed sessions of practical exercises to be used in conjunction with your current lessons. Some exercises include videos to help you, the teacher, fully understand what you are bringing into your classroom. Attached is a Resource Packet, which includes all the materials and resources needed for the lessons below. Furthermore, you can purchase (3) edited works of Shakespeare in addition to this packet.
