This packet contains nine seasonal game boards for a one-digit addition dice game. This game covers sums from 1-12. This partner game offers great practice for addition fact fluency and could be implemented into math lessons, small group lessons, or math centers. Since the game stays the same throughout the school year (only the graphics change), it will save you time teaching students a new game. Simply change the game pieces and board each month, and your students will stay engaged!

*9 Seasonal Game Boards with 3 Alternative Boards for October, November, and December
*August/September: Back-to-School Theme
*October: Halloween (Candy Corn and a Spider) Theme and an Alternative Pumpkin Theme
*November: Thanksgiving (Pilgrims and Indians) Theme and an Alternative Fall Theme
*December: Christmas (Presents and Santa's Bag) Theme and an Alternative Penguin Theme
*January: Snowmen Theme
*February: Valentine's Day Theme
*March: St. Patrick's Day Theme
*April: Rainy Spring Theme
*May: Ocean Theme

Here is how this game works:

Materials Needed:
*2 Die (Numbers 1-6)
*22 Game Pieces (11 for each student) (I use seasonal erasers from Target!)

Players per game:

Game instructions:
1. Each student picks a side of the game board.

2. Each student covers their side with a game piece on each number.

3. Partners take turns rolling two die and adding the two numbers together. Whatever the sum is, they uncover that number on their side of the board. The first player to uncover all of their pieces wins. If the student rolls a sum already uncovered, they can not remove any game piece during that turn.

**Creation Tip: Print and laminate and these boards will last you for several years!**

Add and subtract within 20, demonstrating fluency for addition and subtraction within 10. Use strategies such as counting on; making ten (e.g., 8 + 6 = 8 + 2 + 4 = 10 + 4 = 14); decomposing a number leading to a ten (e.g., 13 - 4 = 13 - 3 - 1 = 10 - 1 = 9); using the relationship between addition and subtraction (e.g., knowing that 8 + 4 = 12, one knows 12 - 8 = 4); and creating equivalent but easier or known sums (e.g., adding 6 + 7 by creating the known equivalent 6 + 6 + 1 = 12 + 1 = 13).
Fluently add and subtract within 5.
