This activity is such a fun way to reinforce the decomposition of the number six. Print the gingerbread manipulatives back to back, laminate, and cut out the boxes. One side of each piece will be a boy gingerbread, the other side will be a girl gingerbread. Students will each get six pieces to put in a cup, shake, and spill. Have them count how many boy gingerbreads and how many girl gingerbreads they have. They will then color the gingerbreads on their recording sheet appropriately and write the number of each.
Included are boy/girl gingerbread manipulatives. I also included a recording sheet for this activity and also a graphing activity that practices graphing, counting, less, and more.
