VALUE of these RESOURCES – BUNDLED TOGETHER

WE love this Bundle because it takes students on a journey to appreciate Shakespeare. This journey begins with the history, origins and background of the sonnet, as well as a game to lessen Student apprehension about Shakespearean language. The journey moves THROUGH language and skill lessons needed to understand Shakespeare’s poetry, and ends in application exercises and writings. Students demonstrate their learned skills through sonnet annotation and the writing opportunities afforded in these resources!

Please read all about EACH item that is included in this Bundle below. Also feel free to click on the live links, should you need more information about each individual product.

1. You may begin with the The Shakespeare Feud! Bard’s Idioms in a PowerPoint Team Game!. This wonderfully fun team game lessens any apprehensions students have about Shakespeare, by using many of the expressions today regarded as coined by Shakespeare. Complete with built-in answer and attribution to play or sonnet on each subsequent slide, it is very simple to use. Great to start or end any Shakespeare unit!

2. Continue on with The Language of Shakespeare – Two Parts. A written and classwork version of the Power Point game, this lovely resource uses familiar idiomatic expressions we use every day to cut down on “Pre-Shakespeare” jitters. Part II allows instructors to choose sections from any play or sonnet of their choosing for a more in-depth look at figurative language, as a precursor to literary analysis and annotation.

3. Sonnet History complete Unit Grades 6-11. Not only a PowerPoint (In PDF format) that discusses the history, origin and background of the sonnet from Italy to England and to its popularity today, BUT, we’ve taken the liberty of upgrading this to include printable notes of the actual PowerPoint, and providing an assessment and Key. Three products, forming a complete unit.

4. Provide students with everything they need to begin annotation, and yes, analytical and critical writing with The Sonnet 2: Meter & Structure, A Complete Common Core Unit, Grades 8-12. This fantastic product is not only a PowerPoint (In PDF format), but it comes with companion notes, and practice exercises for students to do WHOLE GROUP for practice and to apply on their own, as an ASSESSMENT to prove what they’ve learned! Students learn: rhyme scheme, meter, volta or turn, the difference between iambs and trochees, and more.

5. Let students learn the RIGHT way to ANNOTATE. Provide SAMPLES, with Annotating Sonnets: Complete Common Core Standards Unit for Middle & High School. This great 7-day unit provides strong and weak samples, with Shakespearean sonnets, of course. Students learn by seeing, being shown, and of course, by doing it themselves. This incredibly helpful unit does all of that and more – and makes it easy on YOU.

6. Students may end their Shakespeare Journey with a thought-provoking paper. Isn’t that the main goal of annotation? Our new BUNDLE ends with Annotation W Purpose; Comparing/Contrasting Sonnets, Grade 6-13 – Common Core Unit. A scaffolded 8 to 10-day lesson on Annotating and writing with graphic organizers, helpful tips, and as always the lesson plans, keys and more that you have come to expect!
