This is a complete unit based on Lois Burdett’s book Shakespeare Can be Fun, MacBeth for Kids. It is an incredible way to introduce young students to Shakespeare.
As Ms. Burdett says, “For the children, Shakespeare has become a friend, not someone to be feared. His plays are looked upon as exciting stories, not drudgery.” Ms Burdett has used this book for students as young as 2nd grade. It is appropriate for 2nd – 6th grades.
This unit may be used as a read aloud (using one book where the teacher reads aloud), or purchase a book for each student where they may read together as one group or in several small groups.
Included are: 3 Power Point presentations (Topics: Life of Shakespeare, Scotland and Tragedies), a 54 page lesson plan which includes daily worksheets, projects and activities, 320 vocabulary word and definition cards to choose from, a 17-page bell ringers journal and printable Shakespeare bulletin board letters.
