Product Description
Valentine's Day Tragic Literature Lovers Bundle Includes Part 1 and 2 in this bundle for a discounted price (over buying each product individually). In PDF form and No PART is EDITABLE due to RESTRICTED GRAPHICS! Ever want those tragic love stories to turn out differently? This is a fun packet that is designed for Special Education and ELD (9th - 12th grade) students to do just that. It contains a quick (often irreverent) retelling of five famous tragic love stories:
1) Tristan and Isolde (Celtic Love Story);
2) Guinevere and Lancelot (Arthurian Romance);
3) Hamlet and Ophelia (Shakespeare;
4) Rama and Sita (Indian Epic Love); and
5) Umegawa and Chubei (Japanese Folklore Love) (this one is designed for moderate/severe students and includes a coloring page and much less writing). PLUS: A complete (filled out) teacher/class example/reference of the activities for "Ariadne and Theseus (Greek Tragedy) " (this is the answer key which you will extrapolate from for the identical activities for the other lovers' tales).

Exact contents are:
1) Instruction page and hook;
2) Five brief re-tellings of the above listed tragic tales (which your students will rewrite with "happily ever after" endings);
3) A valentine "cause and effect" graphic organizer (students will use to create their "happily ever after ending" for each student rewritten story);
4) Two blank pages, for students to work alone (or in small cooperative groups) rewriting the tragic tale they picked;
5) Student created vocabulary development page (one for each story to be used individually, or as part of a small cooperative group) to be orally presented to the entire class;
6) Two blank valentines (for each story) to have the main characters write love letters to each other;
7) Simple rubric (this is the same one found in Lovers' Packet #1);
8) Plus, a complete teacher/student example reference (for all above parts listed) of Ariadne and Theseus.
This is a fun way to introduce your special education literature/English Language Learner class to literature's great tragic love stories. If you choose one story you can complete this activity in a two hour class period - if you choose to do all the stories, it can take up to a week. Enjoy! Peg Rescue Dogs' Series
