In sonnet 2 Shakespeare inverts the imagery used in sonnet 1. A reading of the work is provided on a PowerPoint but it is in the examination undertaken in the worksheets where the real investigation begins. A range of strategies are offered for individual and group work along with a set of specific questions on sonnet 2 for classroom use. Suggested answers are provided for the teacher. An appreciation of poetic technique is offered through these associated activities that may help build a student's understanding. Connections are also made with other sonnets allowing for an insight into Shakespeare's imagery and word play which is evident throughout the sonnet series.
