How like a winter hath my absence been
Separation makes every season seem like winter. Even the birds will not sing. This is but one of the melancholy outcomes associated with love. The conceit of the seasons and how they are used to parallel a lover’s fortune is explored here through workbook activities that are practical in nature and through the reading on the PowerPoint. The aim is to encourage a more thorough and thoughtful approach to the study of the sonnets and complement the approaches already taken in class.
