"Speak the Speech, I Pray You" allows students to choose a 10-16-line speech from HAMLET and perform it in front of the class. Includes detailed rubric, guidelines, and tips for students developed over several years of giving this assignment. Also includes a fill-in calendar you can pass around the classroom to schedule four students per day. The project is asily adaptable to any Shakespeare play, the speeches are easily integrated alongside your normal daily study of the play, and the opportunity helps make the experience of studying Shakespearean drama more accessible, while giving students ownership of a particular character or scene. (Also requires students to justify their choice of speech in a brief paragraph.) Fully editable, except for titles, which are pictures.
