Shakespeare ALIVE! Creating a Research-Based Thinglink on Shakespeare and the Elizabethan Era

This resource is a great alternative to the redundant research-based slide presentations! Students will love to showcase their researched knowledge of William Shakespeare and Elizabethan England by creating a dynamic, interactive image that includes tagged sound files, songs, images, videos, and hyperlinks to related websites.

This will also provide students with a historical frame of reference for better understanding while reading Shakespeare’s plays!

This project is designed to be used as an introduction to any of Shakespeare’s plays or poems!

Each resource that students will use to create their interactive images can be accessed with Google Chrome. All materials are editable and can be used with any device!

Students will first research the life of William Shakespeare and select two additional Elizabethan Era-related topics that most interest them. Examples of suggested topics include the Black Death and Elizabethan Era medical treatments, superstitions and the Elizabethan's belief in witches, crime and punishment, Queen Elizabeth I, social classes and family life in Elizabethan England, and The Globe Theater.

This research-ready resource includes an Elizabethan Era Symbaloo with 52 websites accessible through one link!

Students will create a photo collage of images relating to their research topics and will search for supplementary online content to include as an embedded “tag” in Thinglink. Thinglink is a highly-rated website that is free to use and user-friendly!

By searching for video files, audio, songs, and images, students will be given the opportunity to analyze and select more than one source type to represent their knowledge of the life of William Shakespeare and Elizabethan England.

Students will love the opportunity to create and design their own interactive images!
