This Internet search sheet on Shakespeare and the Globe Theatre touches on some of the important areas students should know as they're studying the Bard, without being an over-the-top assignment or an unwieldy Webquest. It can be used individually or with a partner, and it contains areas which allow students to 'make connections' between their world and the world that Shakespeare lived and wrote in. I can attest to some interesting connections being made, and this exercise stretches students beyond their usual amassing and regurgitation of material and makes Shakespeare more 'real' and understandable. A follow-up to this search might be to have students write a short one-page conversation (practising their punctuation) where they travel back in time to meet Shakespeare at the local coffee shop and ask him 5 questions that they'd like him to answer (and perhaps, have them write - and, of course, make up - the 5 answers that they think Shakespeare might have given!).
