This lesson focuses on the basic structure of Shakespearean sonnets. Students are provided the essential vocabulary such as foot, quatrain, couplet, etc. Then, students examine the structure of an example sonnet. Students are then given, the enlarged text of a sonnet that is scrambled (there are 6 from which to choose). They then must cut apart the sonnet and arrange it according to what they know about the structure. The original texts of the 6 sonnets are provided.
