Over the years I have crafted together an abridged version of William Shakespeare's tragedy, Julius Caesar. This version has shortened scenes juxtaposed with modernized / simplified versions of key scenes. The revised scenes highlight the main themes and character conflicts in the play. Meanwhile the abridged text pulls out challenging vocabulary, highlights allusions, and is interspersed with teacher notes and scaffolded questions. I use this version as a supplement with most students and as the primary text with my special education and English language learners.
This version includes all five acts of the play, scaffolded to reach all audiences. Additionally, the document is a Microsoft Word Document and can be revamped to match your own teaching style and emphasis.
